I have always been a fan of unique
avenues in which people are able to raise awareness for a great cause. From a
30 hour famine to local fun runs, I’ve participated in many events that
supported a good cause in an uncommon way. I love this type of fundraising – it
forces people out of their comfort zones while raising vital funds for a cause
in the process.
It’s been almost a year since I
have written on this site and that’s a tad shameful but I am happy to report
that in that time frame I have made some new friends. One of these new friends
is Joy. Joy is passionate about helping others and is actively involved in supporting
people and causes that she believes in. She volunteers at so many events and
for so many organizations that I can hardly keep track of them all!
In my very first post on this site
I talked about the opportunities that we have to do good and to spread that
goodness to others in the hopes that it would be contagious:
“This
site is dedicated to the reasons we live and the opportunities that we have to
be someone else’s reason.”
Joy touches many
lives with her willingness to share her time and to help others. And her most
current adventure speaks to my ongoing love/hate relationship with cardio as
well as my passion for supporting others… so of course I am a big fan!
As part of Team
in Training, Joy is participating in a half
marathon in order to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The funds that are raised go towards treatments and research to find
cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. Having finally attempted and completed my first half
marathon this past January… I can vouch that this is no easy feat.
Take a few
minutes to support Joy as she takes on the strenuous task of completing a half
marathon to raise awareness and funds for a really great cause.
If you are not
able to leave a donation – no worries! Just leave some words of encouragement!
Keep up the
awesome work Joy!
Thanks so much Elyse....you rock!!
